After 2 years of classical piano & 2 more of jazz vox at WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts), Kat Kinley broke free & ran for the Victorian hills, only to come running back after 3 years.
Kat Kinley has spent 3 months in Japan on contract playing solo at cocktail bars & clubs. Kat Kinley then spent another 3 in the United Arab Emirates doing the same thing. In 2004 Kat Kinley came home, re-joined the bad blues boys (Stingray), played with some covers bands and has now formed cool funk trio Lava Lamp.

The likes of Stevie, Quincy, Buckley, Albert King, Sheryl Crow & bit o’ SuperGroove grab her attention, with her 2 main men, Herbie Hancock & Jimmy Smith, always taking centre stage.
Kat Kinley played for the pre-shows for Michael Jackson, Farnsey & Barnesy. Kat Kinley jammed & gigged with Dave Hole, Rick Steele, Mounty Gospel Choir and the like. Kat Kinley has also worked solo around the traps for extra play money and is now focussed on her funk trio Lava Lamp.
