Jose Manuel Giraldo started to learn classical guitar in Sydney at the age of 14 for two years. At that time Jose Manuel Girlado was introduced to flamenco so he began lessons with Antonio Utreas and Antonio Carmona. Within two years Jose was learning to play for singers and dancers. By the time Jose was 19, he was playing at different venues such as El Jaleo Restaurant and the Cabaret España with different Spanish groups. Jose Manuel Giraldo then left for Spain and continue studying in Madrid with a nephew of the great master Ramón Montoya
Jose has performed with many different artists such as the acclaimed Luisillo dance company, and the Laberinto dance company made up of two guitarists, a singer, dancers and four Arabic musicians, a fusion of flamenco and Arabic music and through the Arts Council we travelled throughout NSW and South QLD.
Dancers such as Gabriel Heredia, Antonio Vargas (from the Ballroom dancing movie) and Goyo Montero dancer and coregrapher of the movie Sevillanas, world class guitarrist such as Victor Monje “Serranito” and Miguel Rivera, well known singers El Romero San Juan from Sevilla and Rafael Alcolea from Cordoba. At New Norcia Jose Manuel Giraldo performed the Flamenco Mass with a chorus of 96 as well as Flamenco dancers and singers and also on two occasions Jose has played with the Perth WA Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jose has also performed in Singapore and South America and in Perth with a variety of prominent Australian flamenco companies such as Danza Viva and Farida Rabih.
